Meet Your Trainer

Hi! I'm Brittany,
and I'll be working hands on with you and your dog to meet your goals.
There is not a time in my life where I haven't had a dog by my side. Growing up with Golden Retrievers, I was pretty shell shocked when I adopted my first dog out on my own in College. Myra was a wee 20lbs, but had the heart of a lion. She could learn incredibly fast, but she was a very anxious dog who struggled with reactivity and anxiety. In 2015, while I lived in Portland, Oregon, I met a co-worker who introduced me to a different training approach. One that actually helped me to communicate with Myra.
From 2015-2017, I immersed myself in learning everything I could about this new training approach. In 2017-2018, I fostered and trained dogs through my local rescue, and also shadowed successful trainers. During this time, I trained dogs for friends and family.
In 2018, I started offering private in-home lessons professionally. Since then, I have continued to grow my knowledge of dog psychology and behavior.
I have had the privilege of attending workshops led by world-renowned trainers and continue to expand my knowledge under the guidance of a mentor. For the past two years, I have received monthly coaching in the dog sport of Schutzhund, while also observing the training of high-drive, high-level working dogs. This mentorship has profoundly influenced my approach, particularly in incorporating more play into my training methods.
It is my ultimate goal that dog owners have clarity about how to train their dogs, and that the dogs are upbeat and happy about learning!

Wesley
My husband and I adopted Wesley while we lived in Oregon in early 2017. Wesley came to us suffering from extreme fear. He was honestly terrified of everything. He had severe separation anxiety and would try to break out of crates. He struggled with sound phobia. Wesley didn't know how to just be a dog.
I'm happy to say that while it was a marathon with him - he lives a well-adjusted life. He LOVES his crate, tolerates and is manageable about loud sounds, and has gained a ton of confidence.
His favorite activity is off leash hiking. I've participated in AKC Rally Obedience and Nosework classes with Wesley.

Wesley is my demo dog for client dogs who are working through reactivity.

Korra
Korra came home with us when she was 13 weeks old, and I started right away training the foundations of Schutzhund with her. Korra is from a pedigree of dogs who have participated in bite sports and police work.

Korra is a bright, funny, intense dog who just wants to be out doing all the things!!

It is with Korra I've achieved my highest accomplishment to date with one of my dogs - trialing and titling her in IGP.
Korra and I train in 3 phases: tracking, obedience, and protection. We are out training together every day, rain or shine.

Korra's favorite activity...is all of them. My favorite thing about her is her sense of humor. She's always making me laugh!
She helps me to demonstrate toy play to clients.

Myra
It is because of Myra, that I became invested in learning about dog training.
Myra lives on dearly in my memory. She lived a wonderful 14 years with us.

Myra wasn't an easy dog. She was hardy, and she was severely dog reactive. I wish I knew then, what I know now. Through more effective training, I was able to rehab her reactivity. When she was younger, she displayed a lot of redirected aggression; which at that time I had no idea about. The greatest gift I feel I gave her, was effective behavioral modification and training. Even if it took some time and learning to get there.

Ball was life for Myra. Anything shaped in a sphere she obsessed over. She loved her people. She LOVED to go for walks.
With Myra I learned the basics of sheep herding - she was quite a little natural even for her small size!
